Sponsorship
EXTEND is a small national registered charity established in 1976 and originally developed from the Women's League of Health and Beauty. For many years EXTEND has continued to provide recreational movement classes to music for older people and those less able of any age.
Although, much of our focus on the website is on what we do. In this section we would really like to draw your attention to what you can do to help us keep going for the next 30 years.
We are looking for accreditation for our Diploma in delivering exercise to the over 60s and less able of any age. We are currently registered on the Register of Exercise Professionals and are looking to expand our qualification to cover not only level 3 but level 2 & 4 as well. We cannot achieve this on our own. We are appealing to other organisations/awarding bodies in the hope of a breakthrough so that the good work can continue. Please contact us if you can offer some help in this area.
HOW EXTEND IS FUNDED
EXTEND receives funding in the main from it's individual supporters through 'Friends of EXTEND', one-off donations, administration fees from courses, affiliation fees and sales of uniforms/musical CDs or book/printed literature.
In 2003/04 the Department of Health, through a Section 64 Grant agreed to help fund EXTEND for three years. Nevertheless, vigorous fund-raising is essential in order to maintain momentum and answer the ever-growing demand of the community for our services.
EXTEND is continually seeking sources of funding for consolidation, expansion and development. Presentations to interested organisations are given on request. Appreciating the potential of EXTEND, the former Department of Health and Social Security gave an early pump priming grant. Since then there has been a degree of support from charitable bodies (The John Ellerman Foundation, Age Concern, Help the Aged, Mercers Charitable Foundation) as well as other interested individuals/organisations.
