EXTEND TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

Individuals wishing to qualify as an EXTEND teacher may enrol on a course organised at various locations throughout the UK. During the twelve day training course, students attend a series of lectures and practical workshops covering anatomy and physiology (basic knowledge of the body). The use of music and rhythm; communications skills and teaching techniques. The course is project-focussed, encouraging further self-study to improve individual techniques of class management, the early and accurate recognition of disabilities and problems, and how to adapt exercise to the individual.

The initial training period is spread over 3-5 months culminating in a theoretical and practical examination. At the end of which the candidate would have completed their very own portfolio of evidence to support their qualification.

Membership of EXTEND is through a yearly affiliate scheme on a voluntary basis. Members pay an annual subscription which also funds their corporate package of the EXTEND public liability insurance. The courses are professionally run and adjusted according to local demand and interest. Please click here for our teacher training leaflet.
