Teachers Update

Dorothy Power

For over twenty years Dorothy was Extend's Liaison Officer finding relief teachers for teachers who went on holiday or ill etc., sending out the Application Forms and dealing with the replies for EXTEND courses and also looked after the uniform for EXTEND. She did this willingly and most of her work was voluntary - she did love to be part of the courses and got to know all the teachers so well. She retired a couple of years ago.

She was a Fitness League member for most of her life - her mother had been a member too. Dorothy performed in several Royal Albert Shows on the Irish team and also took part in a couple of EXTEND's performances in the Albert Hall too that Seona choreographed. She made so many friends both in the UK and here in Ireland and although attended the same school as me, I did not get to know her until I met her at "League" classes and became a very close friend in the last 15 years and we both ended up living in Co. Wicklow for over 10 years now.

She fought her illness so bravely and kept it very private as she did not want people fussing or feeling they should visit her either at home or even when in hospital. She will be greatly missed.
